Newman University offers a variety of events to support the arts and provide cultural experiences that enrich students and the greater Wichita community. Events range from dramatic and musical productions to visual arts exhibitions that showcase professional, faculty and student fine artists. THE INSPIRING SERIES The Newman Inspiring Series brings multicultural and international music and dance performers to the Wichita area. Artists have included South Africa's Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the Latin dance group Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, the Papua New Guinea and South Pacific Islands troupe Drum Drum, the Ethos Percussion Group, Children of Uganda and others. THE GALLERY SERIES The Gallery Series includes several exhibits each year featuring paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics and works in other media by local, national, and faculty artists. THE STUDENT SERIES Newman’s growing theatre department stages several student productions ranging from classical Shakespeare to contemporary improvisations. The vocal music program features the Newman University Chorale and the Troubadours - a group of touring singers led by nationally renowned composer, conductor, arranger and Newman faculty member John Leavitt.
