The mission of Prairie Nutcracker Foundation, Inc. celebrates Kansas' pioneer past, the joy of simpler times, the value of hard work and the natural warmth and beauty of Kansas. It also honors the hard work and limitless potential of our young people dedicated to becoming trained dancers.

PNF produces a biennial production called Prairie Nutcracker. It is a uniquely Kansas adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. A holiday event for the whole family.

PNF's 10th season of Prairie Nutcracker will be December 13 - 15, 2013 at Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre.

Set in 1869 Kansas, this century's new holiday tradition made its debut in 2000 at the Fox. Prairie Nutcracker is the perfect heart-warming American celebration for the heartland's holiday season. It features an enchanting musical score masterfully adapted from Tchaikovsky by Boston composer, Rick Kuethe, a native of Omaha, Nebraska. A delightful and wonder filled holiday gift for the whole family.

PNF's mission is:

To provide instruction in various dance disciplines incorporated in productions of the Prairie Nutcracker.
To introduce school children to the world of theatre and dance, and the possibilities for their artistic creativity and expression.
To provide a forum for instruction to local and regional schools concerning Kansas history, turn of the century European and American customs and culture, classical music, ballet, stage dance and theatre etiquette.
To provide scholarships for interested students who demonstrate ability in dance technique and discipline.
To provide an event or events during the holiday season which will attract tourists to the host city and boost the local economy.
To become a biennial signature event for the State of Kansas.
To offer free historical and cultural Informances to interested persons, particularly school children in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.
To work with the state and local tourism agencies to promote the the culture and pioneer heritage of the state and region

Black ballet shoes in good condition, used or new in any size.

Women's hoops, for Civil War size skirts.

Women or Children's full length petticoats and/or pantaloons.

Flat bed trailer at least 12'.

Stacking Maytag energy efficient front loading washer and dryer. (retails $1500 each)

Donations, specifically for:

PNF's Shoe Bank (A dancer must replace her pointe shoes often! A pair of pointe shoes costs from $55-100 per pair. PNF's shoe bank helps subsidize the pointe shoes of Prairie Nutcracker's performing ballerinas.)

On-going education of dancers in southeast Kansas (Prairie Nutcracker Foundation provides scholarships for dancers who audition and qualify for summer ballet intensives with top ballet company programs throughout the country. (Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre...))
